Iris Cloud terms of service

Last updated November 8, 2026

These terms are between you and Jacob Foscalina, doing business as Iris Studio, a sole proprietor in California, at 1512 Greenbriar Ave, Corona, California 92878 ("we", "us"). They cover Iris Cloud: the paid plans that give you Iris, the web app at app.buildwithiris.com, host the websites you publish from it, and run its AI features on cloud AI models through our service, with credits.

You accept these terms when you tick the box and create an Iris Cloud account, and again when you accept a new version we ask you to accept. They include the Acceptable use policy, the Refund policy and the Data processing addendum. The Privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.

The short version

This summary is here to help you read the terms. The full text below is what counts.

  • Without a plan, each account can build one free page, see it and edit it without AI; it can't be published. Everything else in Iris, including hosting, Test sites, publishing, store email and building more, needs an active plan. The pricing page lists the plans, what each includes and what it costs. Iris Cloud is the only way to use cloud AI in Iris.
  • Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel online at any time under Account in Iris, in a few clicks.
  • Each plan includes credits every billing period. Iris shows what a job will cost before it starts. You can buy extra credit packs.
  • If you turn on the assistant for your website's visitors, each answer uses your credits, on a Test site too.
  • Your briefs, photos and websites stay yours. We keep them on our servers to run Iris and host your websites. Our AI gateway passes the AI work to Anthropic and returns the result, and does not keep the content of your prompts.
  • AI can be wrong. Do not rely on factual statements in AI output without checking them yourself.
  • We may suspend accounts that are used for abuse.

1. What Iris Cloud is

1.1 Iris Cloud runs the AI parts of Iris (planning, writing, designing, reviewing and repairing websites, and other AI features in the app) on cloud AI models. Today those models are Claude models provided by Anthropic, PBC, which we use under our own agreement with Anthropic. We may change the models or providers we use; the Subprocessors page lists the current ones.

1.2 Iris Cloud is a feature of Iris. It is not access to Anthropic's services or to any AI model as such. You may only use it through the Iris app and the sites it publishes, for the features the app offers.

1.3 Iris runs in your browser. We build and check your websites on our servers, in isolated machines, and host the websites you publish from Iris on Cloudflare's network, with their photos and files on Cloudflare R2. Each plan includes an amount of hosting each month (live websites, requests, storage and emails), shown on the pricing page. Use above it is charged at the rates shown there, and you can set a monthly spending limit.

1.4 Early access. While Iris Cloud is labeled early access or beta, parts of it may change or stop, and we may have to correct credits or charges. We tell you about anything that affects what you paid for.

2. Your account

2.1 You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, and able to make a binding contract. If you sign up for a business, you confirm you may accept these terms for it.

2.2 Give us accurate information and keep it up to date. Keep access to your email and your signed-in browsers safe, and do not share your account. You are responsible for everything done with your account. Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else has used it. A browser that has not used Iris for 14 days is signed out.

2.3 Iris Cloud is available only in the United States. You confirm that you live there when you sign up.

3. Plans, renewal and payment

3.1 Plans and prices. The plans, what each includes, its price, its billing period and any taxes are shown before you pay and on our pricing page. Prices are in US dollars. Plans may have daily limits, which the pricing page shows.

3.2 Automatic renewal. Your subscription starts when you pay and renews automatically every month at the price then in effect, until you cancel. We charge your payment method at the start of each month of your plan. Before you pay, we show you those terms next to the pay button and ask you to tick a box agreeing to them. Afterwards we email you a confirmation you can keep, with the renewal terms, the price, the billing period and how to cancel.

3.3 Free trials and introductory prices. We do not offer free trials or introductory prices today. If we offer one, we tell you before you start a trial or an introductory price how long it lasts, what the price will be afterwards, when you will first be charged, and how to cancel before then. For a trial or introductory period longer than 31 days, we also remind you between 3 and 21 days before it ends.

3.4 Reminders. Every subscription gets a reminder at least once a year with what it is, how often and how much it charges, and how to cancel.

3.5 Price changes. We tell you by email about a price change, or a material change to what your plan includes, between 7 and 30 days before it takes effect, with how to cancel. If you do not want the new price, cancel before it applies. If you do not agree to a price increase and are charged it, you may cancel within 14 days of the charge and we refund the unused part.

3.6 Payments. Payments are processed by Stripe, which handles your card or other payment details under its own terms. We do not store your full card number. If a payment fails, we may retry it and tell you. If it still fails, AI work and new builds stop until you pay. Your websites keep running for a grace period, with reminders; an unpaid bill takes them offline after 14 days, or after 3 days once unpaid usage charges pass US$250.

3.7 Taxes. Prices may not include sales tax or similar taxes. Where we must collect them, we add them at checkout and show them before you pay.

3.8 Who you can reach. Our name, address and phone number are at the end of these terms.

4. How to cancel

4.1 You can cancel at any time, online, without calling or chatting with anyone:

  • from Iris: Account → Plan, with Cancel my plan or Manage or cancel plan, which opens the payment page with Cancel subscription; or
  • by emailing [email protected] from the address on your account.

4.2 Canceling stops future renewals. You keep Iris Cloud, and your websites stay live, until the end of the period you have paid for. Your websites then stay offline and restorable for 30 days, so you can export what you need, and are deleted after we tell you. We email you a confirmation when you cancel. If we offer you something to stay, you can still cancel straight away.

4.3 Refunds are described in the Refund policy. Canceling does not by itself refund the current period, except where that policy or the law says so.

4.4 You can also close your account entirely, under Account in Iris. Closing cancels your subscription at once with no further charges and does not refund the current period; removes your remaining credits, which cannot be brought back; refunds the unused credits of any credit pack you paid for, as the Refund policy describes (plan credits are not refunded); signs out every computer and browser; and stops the website assistant on your sites. Your name and email come off the account, and we keep the records the Privacy policy describes. Your websites go offline, and your projects and files are deleted as the Privacy policy describes, so export anything you want to keep first. If you might want a refund, ask before you close.

5. Credits

5.1 What credits are. AI work in Iris Cloud uses credits. Each kind of job has a set price in credits that scales with its size (for example, per page for a new website), and helper features such as Ask Iris and writing help are free up to a monthly number of uses, then use a small amount. The pricing page has the current list. Before a large job (such as a new website or a new version of a site), Iris shows the price and asks you to confirm. Your balance and history are under Account in Iris.

5.2 Plan credits. Your plan gives you a number of credits each billing period. Unused plan credits carry over for 1 extra month after that period, then expire. The oldest credits are used first. Iris shows the expiry dates under Account.

5.3 Credit packs. You can buy extra credit packs. Pack credits are used after your plan credits. Pack credits do not expire while your account is open and stay usable after you cancel a subscription. Credits we give you for free follow the same rule.

5.4 Jobs that do not finish. When a job starts, we hold its price. A job that finishes is charged exactly that price. A job that is stopped, fails or runs out of time is charged only for the AI work it used, never more than the price, and the rest goes back to your balance. If it failed because of a problem on our side or our provider's side, tell us within 60 days and we return those credits too.

5.5 The website assistant. If you turn on the AI assistant for your website's visitors, each answer uses your credits, up to the monthly limit you set for that site, on a Test site as well as a live one (a Test site stops at 20 questions a day). Anyone can ask it questions, so set a limit you are comfortable with. You can pause it, or replace or revoke its key, from Iris.

5.6 What credits are not. Credits are a measure of use of Iris Cloud. They have no cash value, cannot be sold or transferred, are not a deposit and are not sold as a gift, and are refunded only as the Refund policy or the law says.

5.7 Metering. Our service counts the credits each job uses. If you think a count is wrong, tell us within 60 days at [email protected] and we will look into it.

6. Fair use

6.1 Iris Cloud is for building, editing and running websites with the Iris app. To keep it fast and fair for everyone, you may not:

  • share an account between people or organizations (people you add as sub-accounts in your Iris account are allowed);
  • send work to Iris Cloud other than through an unmodified Iris app or the site server Iris published, script it, or automate it to run far beyond normal use;
  • resell Iris Cloud, or use it to provide an AI service to others (building websites for clients is allowed);
  • use it, or its output, to build or train a competing AI model or service;
  • try to get around credits, limits, metering or safety systems.

6.2 We may set reasonable limits on how much and how quickly you can use Iris Cloud, and slow down or pause jobs that would harm the service for others. We may also pause Iris Cloud for everyone if our own provider limits are reached. We tell you in the app when a limit applies.

7. Acceptable use and suspension

7.1 You must follow the Acceptable use policy. Because Iris Cloud uses Anthropic's models, it also requires you to follow Anthropic's Usage Policy.

7.2 We may suspend or limit your Iris Cloud access, with notice where reasonable and immediately where needed, if:

  • you break these terms or the Acceptable use policy, or a provider tells us your use breaks its policies;
  • your use puts the service, other users, our providers or the public at risk;
  • you do not pay, or a charge is disputed; or
  • the law or a lawful request requires it.

7.3 We will tell you why where we lawfully can, and you can ask us to review the decision at [email protected]. If we close your account for a serious breach, unused credits are not refunded unless the law requires it. While your account is suspended, your websites may be taken offline, and an assistant on your credits stops answering.

8. Your content

8.1 Your briefs, text, photos, logos, artwork, product data and other material you give Iris ("your content") stay yours. As between you and us, you own the websites, code, text and images Iris produces for you ("your output"). To the extent we have any rights in your output, we assign them to you. We may use your content and output only to run Iris for you, as these terms and the Privacy policy describe.

8.2 You give us permission to send your content to our AI provider and to process it as needed to run Iris Cloud for you. Our AI gateway passes your requests through to the provider and returns the results; it does not store the content of your prompts (see the Privacy policy). We keep your projects and websites on our servers to run Iris for you. Anthropic processes them under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to train its models on them.

8.3 You confirm you have the rights to the content you send, and that sending it, including anything about your customers or visitors, does not break the law or anyone else's rights. Do not send more personal information than the job needs.

9. AI output

9.1 Factual statements in AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading or out of date. Do not rely on them without checking them independently. AI output may also not reflect our views or those of Anthropic.

9.2 You decide whether AI output is right for your use and whether a person needs to review it. Read every page before you publish. If your website gives legal, medical, financial, insurance, housing, employment or similar advice, a qualified person must review the AI-written content, and you must tell your visitors AI was used.

9.3 AI output is not professional advice from us. The same output may be given to other people, and it may not be protected by copyright.

10. Service availability and changes

10.1 We work to keep Iris Cloud available and fast, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. It depends on providers such as Anthropic and our hosting company, and it may be unavailable for maintenance, outages or limits outside our control.

10.2 Your published websites run on Cloudflare's network, separately from the Iris app, so they can keep working while the app is unavailable. A website assistant on your credits does not answer while Iris Cloud is unavailable; your site shows visitors how to reach you instead.

10.3 We may change, add or remove features and models. If a change materially reduces what your paid plan includes, we tell you in advance, and you may cancel and receive a refund for the unused part of the period you paid for.

10.4 If we stop offering Iris Cloud, we tell you at least 30 days in advance and refund the unused part of your prepaid subscription and your unused paid pack credits.

11. Third-party services

Iris Cloud relies on services from other companies, such as Anthropic for AI models and Stripe for payments. The services you connect to your own websites (such as Stripe and email providers) are between you and them, not part of Iris Cloud.

12. No warranty

Apart from what these terms say, Iris Cloud is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied or statutory, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement, and any warranty that AI output is accurate or that your website will be lawful, accessible or secure. Consumers keep any rights the law gives them that cannot be excluded.

13. Limit of liability

13.1 To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill or business, arising from Iris Cloud or these terms.

13.2 To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims about Iris Cloud or these terms is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us for Iris Cloud in the 12 months before the claim arose, or US$100.

13.3 Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as liability for fraud, for willful injury, or for a violation of law where the limit is not allowed.

14. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us, and our providers where we are required to protect them, against third-party claims arising from your content, the websites you make or publish, your use of Iris Cloud in breach of these terms, the Acceptable use policy or Anthropic's Usage Policy, and pay the resulting costs and damages a court awards or that you agree to in a settlement. We will tell you about the claim promptly. If you use Iris Cloud as a consumer, this applies only as far as the law allows.

15. Ending these terms

15.1 You can stop using Iris Cloud and close your account at any time (section 4).

15.2 We can end these terms or close your account for the reasons in section 7, or if we stop offering Iris Cloud (section 10.4).

15.3 Sections 5.6, 8, 9 and 12 to 17 continue to apply after these terms end.

16. Governing law and disputes

16.1 These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.

16.2 Before starting a formal dispute, contact us at [email protected] so we can try to resolve it within 60 days. Either of us may use small claims court for a claim that qualifies.

16.3 If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, it will be decided in the state courts in Riverside County, California, or the federal court for the Central District of California, and you and we agree to the jurisdiction of those courts. These terms contain no arbitration agreement and no class-action waiver.

16.4 If the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts or under your local law, this section does not take that right away.

17. General

17.1 Changes to these terms. We may update these terms. For changes that materially affect you, we give at least 30 days' notice by email or in the app before they apply, except where a change is needed sooner for legal or security reasons, and we ask you to accept the new version where the change is significant. If you do not agree, cancel before the change applies, and ask us about a refund of the unused part if the change makes your plan worse. A change does not apply to a dispute that arose before it. Price changes follow section 3.5.

17.2 Export controls and sanctions. You confirm that you are not in a country under a US embargo, not on a US list of restricted people, and not otherwise barred from using Iris Cloud under US export or sanctions laws.

17.3 Whole agreement, severability, waiver, assignment. These terms, with the documents they include, are the whole agreement about Iris Cloud. If part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not transfer these terms without our consent. We may transfer them with our business, including to a company we form to run it, and we will tell you if we do.

17.4 Events outside our control. We are not responsible for failures caused by events we cannot reasonably control, such as outages at our providers.

17.5 Electronic records. You agree that your acceptance online and our notices by email or in the app count as written. Keep your account email working: that is where we send them.

17.6 Notices and contact. We send notices to the email on your account or show them in the app. Send notices to us at [email protected], or Iris Studio, 1512 Greenbriar Ave, Corona, California 92878. Phone: (951) 545-0636.

17.7 California notice. Iris Cloud's charges are on our pricing page and in sections 3 and 5. For a complaint, contact us first. California residents may also reach the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs at 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or (800) 952-5210.
